Angela deJong is a certified personal trainer and owner of Acacia Fitness. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Kinesiology, specializing in sport performance and exercise therapy. She has been training clients since 2001 and has worked with hundreds of people ranging from armchair sportsmen to high performance athletes nationally and internationally. Many of the armchair sportsmen have even become high performance athletes in this time.

While most clients do not aspire to reach high performance level, they do desire to be healthier, fitter, and happier. This is where Ang comes in. She gradually pushes her clients through nutrition coaching and exercise progression week after week to make little changes that eventually add up to big results. She has helped clients lose enough weight to be given permission from their physicians to stop taking their diabetes medication, antidepressants, and high blood pressure medication. She has helped clients bounce back after knee, abdominal, back, shoulder, thyroid and cancer surgeries and has witnessed how movement can change the life of someone suffering with arthritis or even depression. Angela has provided her clients the confidence to get out and date again, the health to start a family, the mobility to run pain free, the strength to carry their golf clubs 18 holes, the cardiovascular fitness to hike mountains and run marathons, the courage to change careers, and the motivation to continue to do this for the rest of their lives.

Her passion for fitness and nutrition aside, it’s her clients that inspire her to travel the world in search of the latest exercise and nutrition science. She continues to learn, experiment, and push her own limits to discover what works, what is realistic, what is sustainable, and what is fun. Keep in mind her idea of “fun” might be different than yours and mine.

Angela has been dedicated to her own fitness since 1993. Marathon running, adventure racing, power lifting, fitness photo-shoots, mountain climbing, and her most proud accomplishment: conquering her fear of water and learning to swim. She has also summited the highest peak in every country on the continent of Africa.

Angela’s passion for fitness runs deeper than just weight loss, building muscle, and gaining stamina. It’s about freedom. She says a fit body and mind give you the confidence to try just about anything, if you desire. She has seen it change her clients’ lives. “They are doing things they only dreamed they would be doing. It’s the best part of my job.”
